in ,'
L
AMEC and Lone Star verified that the SLF surface had been proof - rolled, and that the SLF
surface was free of desiccation cracks. Where the surface of the SLF did not meet
specifications, Ames repaired the area and re- compacted the surface. Lone Star provided
written certification of geomembrane subgrade acceptance. The subgrade acceptance
certificates are presented in Appendix G.
AMEC assigned each geomembrane panel a number. Double -sided textured 80 -mil LLDPE
geomembrane panels deployed in the Phase 5 Berm Modification were designated by P1
through P25 as part of the primary liner.
AMEC marked the panel designation and roll number directly on each panel after it was
deployed. The geomembrane record drawing, showing the Phase 5 Berm Modification
primary geomembrane panel layout and destructive testing, is presented as Record Drawing
No. 3 of 3 in Appendix A.
During geomembrane deployment, AMEC measured sheet thickness with a pointed
micrometer. AMEC measured sheet thickness at five random locations along each edge of
each geomembrane panel. The average thickness specified for the 80 -mil geomembrane
was 80 mils. Project specifications for 80 -mil geomembrane required that the average of the
five thickness measurements be no less than the 80 mils, and that no individual
measurement be less than the nominal thickness minus 8 mils (i.e., 72- mils). The thickness
monitoring provided by AMEC indicated that all of the panels met or exceeded project
requirements.
AMEC personnel measured deployed panel lengths by use of a measuring wheel.
Recorded lengths were approximate, and do not reflect any trimming or adjustments made
for final placement or anchor trench lengths.
AMEC personnel observed the surface of each deployed panel. AMEC logged any
penetration defects and marked them on the panel. 6.4 provides further discussion of
repairs. AMEC also observed the overlap of each panel with adjacent panels to verify that
AMEC Environment & Infrastructure, Inc.
2000 S.
