ameO
Weather data for the Phase 5 Berm Modification construction activities from the period of
June 2012 through August 2012 are presented in Table 2.
2.1 Underground Workings Remediation
The Phase 5 Berm Modification was constructed on previously placed fill. No underground
workings were encountered within the footprint of the Phase 5 Berm Modification.
2.2 Site Grading
Prior to SSF placement, Ames conditioned and compacted the subgrade surface of the fill
area. AMEC monitored the preparation of the subgrade and verified that it met project
specifications.
Ames graded existing slopes and placed SSF so that final slopes were no steeper
than 1.5H:1V (horizontal:vertical). In native ground, the in -situ material was scarified to a
depth of approximately 6 inches. SSF was compacted with a minimum of four passes by a
smooth drum vibratory compactor according to the project specifications.
Ames placed approximately 925 cubic yards of SSF for site grading in the Phase 5 Berm
Modification footprint.
2.3 Subgrade Preparation
Prior to SLF placement, Ames moisture conditioned and compacted the entire surface of the
Phase 5 Berm Modification with a smooth drum vibratory compactor according to the project
specifications. The quality of the finished surface was then maintained to the project
specifications until SLF was placed.
AMEC Environment & Infrastructure, Inc.
2000 S.
