ame0
• AMEC monitored construction of the Stormwater Controls, including
verification that Ames excavated the trench to minimum required
dimensions and placed materials as specified. AMEC performed in -place
nuclear density testing, and performed CQA laboratory testing of grain
size, moisture content, Atterberg limits, and standard Proctor compaction
of the Pipe Bedding Material (PBM) placed in the Stormwater Controls.
• AMEC visually monitored subgrade preparation to confirm that the
subgrade surface was unyielding, free of organic matter and other
unsuitable materials, and that the subgrade surface was compacted prior
to Soil Liner Fill (SLF) placement.
• AMEC visually monitored the placement and compaction of SLF including
observation of depth verification performed by Ames, particle size,
moisture conditioning, and compaction of the fill. AMEC performed
in -place nuclear moisture density testing, and performed CQA laboratory
testing of grain size, moisture content, Atterberg limits, standard Proctor
compaction, and permeability. AMEC also provided visual monitoring of
the SLF surface preparation and moisture conditioning for geomembrane
deployment, including verification that the surface was proof - rolled,
compacted, and hand - worked so as to be free of desiccation cracks,
abrupt grade changes, and sharp stones or objects. AMEC also observed
the excavation, backfill, and compaction of the anchor trenches.
• AMEC visually monitored the placement of Drain Cover Fill (DCF) above
the primary geomembrane in the Process Solution Enhancement System,
including verification of lift thickness and grade control, identification and
removal of deleterious materials, and verification that care was exercised
in fill placement to avoid geomembrane damage. AMEC performed CQA
laboratory testing of grain size, moisture content, and Atterberg limits.
• AMEC visually monitored the placement of Select Structural Fill (SSF)
above the DCF in the Process Solution Enhancement System, including
verification of lift thickness and grade control, identification and removal of
deleterious materials, and verification that care was exercised in fill
placement to avoid geomembrane damage. AMEC performed CQA
laboratory testing of grain size, moisture content, and Atterberg limits.
• AMEC monitored the ambient air temperatures and the temperatures of
fills, including SLF, in accordance with project specifications. The
ambient air and fill temperatures monitored during fill activities are
summarized in Tables 2 and 3, respectively.
AMEC Environment & Infrastructure, Inc
2000 S Colorado Blvd 2 -1000
Denver, CO 80222
Tel 303 - 935 -6505
Fax 303 - 935 -6575 www.amec.com 3
