BUCKLEN EQUIPMENT CO
BUCKLEN EQUIPMENT CO PIT - ID# M- 1982 -131 I Technical Revision
Settling Ponds 0.22 acres
Product Stockpiles & Processing Plant 11.4 acres
Minor Disturbance
Regraded for Planting
Reseeded and Vegetated
TOTAL DISTURBED AREA 33.16 ACRES
The approximate timetable for the mining amendment will be totally market dependent. There are
approximately 2,400,000 tons of material on -site. The average yearly sales for the operation will
range between 125,000 to 250,000 tons per year. Based on these estimates, the following
schedule is estimated:
Description Mining Period Reclamation Period
PHASE 1 1993 -1998 1995 -2000
PHASE 2 1998 -2013 2018 2000 2015 2020
One lake will be created by the mining operation. This lake will have a surface area of
approximately 244 19 acres.
The Sequence of mining activities to be done is as follows:
14.62 acres
1.12 acres
1. A dewatering ditch will be constructed around the perimeter of the phase.
2. A dewatering pump will be installed and groundwater will be discharged to the settling ponds
on the north side of the pit.
3. Any topsoil or overburden encountered will be stripped and the amount needed for
reclamation will be stockpiled. Stockpiles that remain in place for more than a year will
be temporarily seeded for erosion and dust control. Drainage and sediment control
BMP's will be used to preserve topsoil stockpiles.
4. Sand and gravel will be extracted and transported to the plant for stockpiling.
5. Material may be processed (or not) and will be trucked from the property to end users.
The overall mining plan calls for completion in approximately 20 years, Phase 1 taking five years
to complete and Phase 2 taking 15 years to complete. Each phase will be divided into stages
consisting of approximately three acres. Mining and reclamation of each stage will be done
concurrently. Market demand will dictate actual timing for each phase.
Applegate Group, Inc.
