2. Topsoil replacement
Initial stripping of topsoil in Pit 1 will be used to partially construct the perimeter berm for a
visual barrier on the north sides of the project. Due to the expected volumes, overburden
stripped from Pit 1 will have to be stockpiled directly south of Pit 1 in the designated stockpile
area.
Topsoil stripped from the latter portions of Pit 1 and all of Pit 2 will be used to extend the visual
berm along the entire west edge of the pit, as shown on Map C -2. Topsoil from Pit 3 will be used
to cover portions of the backfilled slope of Pit 1.
Once all overburden has been placed in its final location, the visual berm will be removed to
cover all backfilled slopes with the required topsoil.
3. Haul Roads and Access
It is planned that the haul road utilized in the mining process will remain as an access road for
the south and east sides of the site. An additional access road will be created by refilling the area
currently known as the Oberding Drain. This will provide access from the west side (32 1/2
Road) to the southeast (haul road) and create an earth fill separating the three -pit excavation into
two lakes. All areas will be topsoiled, seeded and mulched.
4. Reclamation Timetable
Listed below is the proposed reclamation timetable, which is essentially the same as the mining
timetable presented in Exhibit D.
Otter Creek Pit December 12 E -2
