A traffic study has been prepared separately, and addresses traffic projections for the operations.
Impacts are given for the proposed haul routes and intersections in the vicinity. Dust mitigation
will include frequent application of water and/or magnesium chloride to the site haul road, as
needed, for dust control. United Companies will work with Mesa County Planning and
Transportation Departments regarding access to 32V2 Road and improving sight distances at the
D and 32 '/2 Road intersection.
Drawing C -2 indicates collection and detention of on -site runoff, typical of gravel mining
operations. The site is currently in agricultural utilization with furrow irrigation. Eventual
elimination of this practice, with associated over watering and chemical - bearing tailwater, will
aid in the improvement of water quality discharged from the site to the adjacent 33 Road Drain
and nearby Colorado River. A large overhead high voltage power line (Excel Power) and 27"
sewer outfall line (Clifton Sanitation District) partially abut the project along the southeast side
of the site. These lines will be avoided and easements respected. United has worked closely
with Mesa County to provide a final reclamation plan that is in accordance with local codes and
produces a site both aesthetically beneficial to the community and environmentally functional to
the vicinity. Portable sanitation facilities will be provided to all workers at the site with sanitary
waste delivered off site for treatment at an approved disposal facility. No individual sewage
disposal systems (ISDS) are proposed. No unwarranted stresses on Mesa County utilities or
service providers are projected due to this operation.
7. Water Information, Rights and Augmentation
All water rights issues such as availability of water for this operation, consumption rates, dust
control, etc. are presented in Exhibit G - Water Information.
Otter Creek Pit December 12 D -
