developments. Excess material may also be used simply to raise the bottom elevation of the lake <br />in selected locations to create wetlands. The plan showed on Map F is the contemplated final <br />reclamation plan. <br />The sediment collection pond shall remain in the original location of Pit 1, continuing to <br />discharge to the 33 Road Drain, as described previously. The haul road will continue in the same <br />location throughout the life of the operation. Internal roads in the individual pits will obviously <br />move around as needed during each phase of mining. Scale locations and access to 32 '/2 Road <br />will also remain unchanged. Farming could continue on the area designated for Pit 3 during Pit 2 <br />operations. <br />PIT 3: <br />The process will be repeated with topsoil and overburden from Pit 3 used for reclamation <br />material in Pit 2, to construct sloped surfaces of 3H:1V to reclaim the walls mined along the <br />outer edges of Pit 2. The remaining excess material is intended to be used in a similar manner as <br />that discussed earlier for Pit 2. Farming is obviously no longer an option; therefore the Oberding <br />Drain could be removed and mined underneath. This is simply a drain for irrigation water from <br />the property itself to make its way back to the Colorado River. The elimination of this Drain will <br />not affect any irrigation user. It is currently the intent to refill the area where the drain existed to <br />create access from the western edge of the pit to the south side of the pit. This would create a <br />separate lake, but provide access from one side to the other. Material initially stored (in the <br />designated stockpile area) from Pit 1 will be used to reclaim Pit 3 (141,960 cubic yards required <br />— minimum) with excess materials to be used in the same manner as described previously. Any <br />required topsoil for Pit 3 reclamation will come from this area. <br />In this way, topsoil and overburden from each phase will be placed in the previously mined out <br />phase(s) to build 311:1 V reclaimed slopes and other potential uses (bank extensions, etc.) as <br />described. The initial overburden and topsoil from Pit 1 will be set aside, with the overburden of <br />each phase being placed in the previously excavated phase.
