APPENDIX C
ESTIMATED YARDAGE CALCULATIONS
Temporary River Bed Crossing
TYPICAL X-SECTION
15-
2- CULVERT
- - - 4 5 - - -
27-
The river bed crossing will be approximatey 80 ft long; thus, 80 ft x 94.5
ft2 = 7,560 ft3/27 = 280 Yd3 . The location of the river run borrow
area is shown on Exhibit A and is 0.1 acre. The area is a gravel bar with no
vegetation.
Bridge (Culvert) Yardage
When the 9-ft diameter culverts are removed, approximately 2,400 Yd3 of
material will be excavated and taken to the subsoil stockpile for storage.
After the wing walls and bidge abutements are constructed, approximately 1 ,150
Yds3 of this same material will be brought back from the subsoil stockpile
and compacted in 6-in. lifts behind the abutements. The remainder of the
material will remain in storage and will be used for reclamation purposes at a
later date.
Temporary Access Road Yardage
The temporary access road will be approximately 400 feet long. The road
will be constructed mainly along the side of the existing road and disturbance
to the river bank area will be minimal. The yardage to be moved during the
construction of >the temporary road is expected to be about 600 yds3. The
bulk of this yardage will come from the side slopes of the existing access road
and will be graded back into the side slopes when the bridge is completed. The
temporary road is to be held into the existing road bank as close as possible
and the area of the road is only 0.3 acres of which only 0.1 acre will be on
