Response to DRMS Adequacy Review — Cotter LP -21 Mine Reclamation Plan Amendment
Cotter Corporation (N.S.L.) (Cotter) submits this response to the October 30, 2012 letter from
Dustin Czapla, Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety ( "DRMS "), to Glen Williams,
Cotter. The DRMS' comments are in italics and Cotter's responses are in bold.
LP -21 Mine, File No. M- 1977 -305, Amendment (AM1) Application Adequacy
Review
Mining Plan
1. Addressing Rule 6.4.4 — On page D-5 under item b., the exhibit states that ore will be piled up
to a workable stockpile. Please provide the Division with a maximum anticipated amount of
ore to be stockpiled at any given time.
No more than 1,700 tons of ore will be stockpiled at any given time.
2. Addressing Rule 6.4.4 - Please provide the Division with the proposed location for ore
storage, and any construction details for an ore storage pad, such as approximate
dimensions, lining material(s), and grade, etc. Also, please show the ore storage location on
the mining plan map(s).
The ore stockpile will be located southeast of the waste rock pile on flat ground and
limited to 0.12 acres. Due to limited time on the pad, limited precipitation in the
area, low permeability and limited downward mobility due to the high clay content
of the soils underlying the pad, the construction of an additional liner will not be
necessary.
The ore stockpile has been added to the mining plan maps found in Attachment 1.
Reclamation Plan
3. Addressing Rule 6.4.6 (a) — Please indicate the reclamation contour interval on the
Reclamation Plan Map(s).
The contour interval outside the affected area is 20 feet and inside the affected area
the contour interval is 1 foot. The 1 foot intervals have been indicated on the map.
The corrected map can be found in Attachment 2.
1
