December 5, 2012 C-1981-016/Hawk Nest E&W JRS
OTHER:
-There has been no change at the East Mine site as a result of the Ragged Mountain Fire Protection District
purchase and planned fire station. As noted in previous inspection reports, the project has been postponed due to a
lack of funding. The holes that were dug for septic system/leach field infiltration tests have been filled. The
Division will plan on doing vegetation sampling on this portion of the site next summer as well. This will be the
second year of sampling.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS -Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
-The East Mine,West Mine and Bleeder Entry areas were all well vegetated and stable at the time of the
inspection. There were no erosional problems noted on any of these sites. There were no off-site impacts noted at
any of the interfaces with the undisturbed areas.
-In June 2012 the Division performed vegetation monitoring on the site. This was the first of two years of
vegetation monitoring (the year"nine"monitoring). The Division is planning on performing the second year of
vegetation monitoring in June 2013. This will be the final ("tenth")year of vegetation monitoring at the site.
Based on the results of the monitoring, the Division hopes to terminate jurisdiction at the Hawk's Nest Mine.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED: NA
This concludes the 5 December 2012 complete inspection report for the Hawk's Nest Mine.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2
Page 3 of 12
