Compliance With Mine Plan N - Support Facilities Not On-site <br /> R -Other N - Special Categories Of Mining <br /> N -Processing Waste N -Topsoil <br /> COMMENTS <br /> This was a complete inspection of the Hawk's Nest Mine conducted by Jim Stark of the Colorado Division of <br /> Reclamation, Mining and Safety. The permit for the mine has been revoked and the bond has been forfeited. The <br /> reclamation work was completed by the Division. The weather was warm and sunny and the ground was dry. <br /> BACKFILL and GRADING—Rule 4.14 Contemporaneous Reclamation 4.14.1;Approximate Original Contour <br /> 4.14.2;Highwall Elimination 4.14.1(2)(f); Steep Slopes 4.14.2, 4.27;Handling of Acid and Toxic Materials <br /> 4.14.3; Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6: <br /> -The regraded East Mine,West Mine and Bleeder Entries areas all remained stable at the time of the inspection. <br /> There were no erosional issues noted at any of the three reclaimed sites. The guest house area is currently being <br /> used as a private residence. <br /> FISH and WILDLIFE—Rule 4.18: <br /> -There were two nice doe grazing on the West Mine reclamation. I startled them and they ran across old Colorado <br /> Highway 133 to the other side of the reclamation. <br /> HYDROLOGIC BALANCE -Rule 4.05 Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, <br /> 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water <br /> Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Drainage —Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; <br /> Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br /> -The large riprapped post-mining channel at the West Mine remains stable. There is a portion of the channel <br /> above and below old Colorado Highway 133. There was no erosion or side/under cutting of the riprap. There is a <br /> large amount of vegetation that has come up in the channel to further protect it. The channel discharges into the <br /> undisturbed area and,ultimately, into the North Fork of the Gunnison River. There was no sediment or erosion <br /> observed at the outlet of the channel. <br /> -The large permanent, riprapped post-mining channel at the East Mine area was stable at the time of the <br /> inspection. The channel is in the lower portion of the East Mine below old Colorado Highway 133. There was no <br /> erosion or side cutting observed in the channel. There is a large amount of vegetation that has grown in the <br /> channel,further stabilizing it. The channel discharges into the undisturbed area and,ultimately, into the North <br /> Fork of the Gunnison River.
