Revegetation Success
Grassland areas at the New Elk Mine falling under Section 4.15.10 and 4.15.8 will be
evaluated using the same criteria as outlined for the Golden Eagle Mine using the Golden
Eagle reference area.
Revegetation success of riparian habitat will be based on data obtained during 1985
fall sampling.
Revegetation success of wildlife habitat will be based on the vegetation study
provided in Appendix 2.
GOLDEN EAGLE MINE
SUMMARY
This section addresses outstanding stipulations and permit conditions for the Golden
Eagle Mine. The outstanding stipulations and conditions deal with future reclamation
activities. Information is supplied in regard to topsoil planning and redistribution,
methods to evaluate revegetation success, revegetation monitoring and road reclamation.
As with the New Elk Mine, WFC is of the opinion Section 4.15.10 applies to all lands
except those disturbed by WFC since acquisition of the property in December, 1983 or
disturbance created by the previous operator after 1977. To WFC's knowledge, the
existing waste pile and sediment control structures are the only surface disturbances
which would fall under this category. Further disturbances anticipated by WFC which
would fall under this category include light-use road construction, mine water discharge
containment cells 002A and 002B and proposed waste pile expansion.
Topsoil Planning
The present surface disturbance at the Golden Eagle Mine is approximately 38 acres,
Figure 1. Two (2) acres have been covered with active waste. WFC proposes to expand
this pile by approximately four (4) acres. A reported 8000 yd3 (5 acre-feet) of topsoil and
-9-
