and gullies performed in 2011 on any of the Phase II or Phase III Bond Release areas
performed in 2011.
Weed control, measures targeting State listed and local species of concern including:
Knapweed(s), Thistle(s), White Top, Curly Cup Gumweed, Russian - Olive, Saltcedar,
Burdock, Mullein, Halogeton, and Western Whorled Milkweed were treated via spot
spraying in areas where they were located. Weed control was performed by WFC and a
licensed weed control company. Pest Management, consisting of Prairie Dog control,
was conducted for approximately three months during the summer. Gopher "gas"
bombs were set off in individual Prairie Dog burrows and immediately covered with
dirt.
Fertilizer, was not applied to any reclaimed areas in 2009. Hay production listed by
property owner giving the details of the first cutting as summarized in the 2009 ARR,
documents that 232.08 acres of Irrigated Pasture Reclamation were harvested for hay,
with the weighted average production being 2,168 pounds of field dried forage per acre.
Irrigated water was diverted into the CCC ditch on 4 May and irrigation commenced on
these areas about two days later, on about 6 May. The CCC Ditch water was shut off
on 4 October 2009.
The 2009 ARR contains no section or mention of grazing activities. However, grazing
did occur in 2009, similar to that described in 2010 and 2011 for the Pasture Reclaimed
Areas. It is assumed that similar stocking rates and grazing periods were employed.
On the Irrigated Pasture Reference Area, no rill or gully repair work was performed.
Weed control was identical to that for the Irrigated Pasture Bond Release Areas.
Fertilizer, was not applied to the Irrigated Pasture Reference Area in 2009. Irrigation,
consisting of 10 shares of water, was applied, via flood irrigation, to the 6.8 acre site
Irrigated Pasture Reference Area, commencing on about 6 May and ended about 31
September 2009. In 2009, there was no hay harvested from this site, so there is no
yield data for hay. However, the site was sampled by both BIO -Logic in connection
with revegetation monitoring activities described previously and by IME, in connection
with baseline vegetation sampling associated with the NHN Mine permitting process.
Grazing commenced on the Irrigated Pasture Reference Area on about the end of July
2009, just after the vegetation studies were completed on this site and ended in the
spring of 2010. Between two and seven head of horses grazed this site during that
time. The sod was treated via a ripper in the spring, which broke up the sod and
created furrows which aided in the application of the flood irrigation waters.
Management Practices Utilized in 2008. There was no repair work associated with rills
and gullies performed in 2011 on any of the Phase II or Phase III Bond Release areas
performed in 2008.
Weed control measures targeting State listed and local species of concern including:
SL -14 03DEC12.wpd 18
