There was no repair work associated with rills
and gullies performed in 2012 on any of the Phase II or Phase III Bond Release areas.
Weed control, measures targeting State listed and local species of concern including:
Knapweed(s), Thistle(s), White Top, Curly Cup Gumweed, Russian - Olive, Saltcedar,
Burdock, Mullein, Halogeton, and Western Whorled Milkweed were treated via spot
spraying in areas where they were located. Pest Management, consisting of Prairie Dog
control was practiced on the Irrigated Pasture Bond Release Areas. No interseeding
occurred on any reclaimed areas in 2012.
Fertilizer, consisting of a mixture of 43 lbs. /acre of 18 -46 -0 and 117 lbs. /acre of
UREA, active ingredient, was applied on 3 May to all areas associated with these
Irrigated Pasture Bond Release Areas. Hay production listed by property owner giving
the details of the fist and second cuttings is found in Appendix 1 - Table 12, New
Horizon Mine - Farm Production - 2012. Water was diverted into the CCC ditch on
25 April and irrigation commenced on about 27 April. The CCC Ditch water was shut
off on 6 October 2012.
With regards to the Irrigated Pasture Reference Area, there was no rill or gully repair
work, performed on this site. As can be observed in this table, the average yield of the first
cutting on the Irrigated Pasture Reference Area, was 794 pounds of field dried forage
per acre and the average second cutting yield on this site was 1,483 pounds of field
dried forage per acre. Normal maintenance work continued on the site regarding ditch
maintenance work and ripping of the sod with a ripper, which breaks up the sod and
promotes vegetation growth.
No grazing has occurred on any of the Irrigated Pasture Reclaimed Areas or the
Irrigated Pasture Reference Area thus far in 2012.
