10.6 TYPE II FILTER <br /> 10.6.1 Bedding shall be spread in such a manner as to avoid segregation <br /> and assure a uniform layer. <br /> 10.6.2 Bedding thickness shall be four inches (4") of Type I Filter and <br /> underlying four inches (4") of Type II Filter. <br /> 10.6.3 Bedding shall be compacted by two passes with a vibratory roller or <br /> plate. <br /> 10.7 RIPRAP <br /> 10.7.1 Riprap shall be placed over prepared bedded areas to conform to the <br /> Drawings. <br /> 10.7.2 Riprap shall be placed to ensure a relatively uniform distribution of <br /> rock sizes. <br /> 10.8 DAM CREST SURFACING <br /> 10.8.1 The dam crest surfacing material shall consist of pit run sand and <br /> gravel generally meeting the requirements for the Colorado Division <br /> of Highways Class 6 aggregate base course as follows: <br /> Sieve Size Percent Passing by Weight <br /> 3/4-inch 100 <br /> No. 4 30-65 <br /> No. 8 25-55 <br /> No. 200 3-12 <br /> 10.8.2 This material shall be placed to a minimum thickness of four inches <br /> (4") and compacted with a minimum of two (2) passes of vibratory <br /> equipment. <br /> 10.8.3 The finished grade of the dam crest surfacing material shall be at a <br /> minimum elevation of 10,725 feet. <br /> 10.8.4 The crest shall be graded toward the reservoir at a two percent <br /> (2%) slope. <br /> 11 QUALITY ASSURANCE AND TESTING <br /> 11.1 The Engineer will perform tests on earth materials at the site to determine if such <br /> materials are in compliance with the respective specified requirements. <br /> SPEC.A- EARTHWORK <br /> PAGE 14 <br />
