PUMP STATION DESIGN
Site Description
The preliminary location of the new pump station is shown on drawing number
1051.15b-2. The following is a list of items that were considered in determining the
proposed location of the new pump station:
• Locate within the present and expected future process system boundaries.
• Locate on the north side of the reservoir to allow the pipeline route to
traverse the north abutment of No. 1 Dam and minimize the length of the
pipeline required.
• Locate at the deepest feasible point in the proposed seepwater pond to
maximize the use of the storage volume in the pond and reservoir, and
minimize the excavation required.
• Provide for easy access from the county road.
• Locate where power is accessible with a minimum amount of cost.
The pump station site would be graded to a nominal elevation of 10893 feet and
the bank slopes adjacent to the station would be lined with riprap for erosion protection.
A small area of the pond would need to be dredged down to elevation 10875 feet around
the pump station intake. A connection point into the pump station discharge pipe could
be included in the final design for use with a temporary lift station to facilitate potential
future dredging.
General Layout
The preliminary configuration and layout of the proposed pump station is shown on
drawing number 1051.15E-1. As shown on the drawing, the pump station would consist
of a concrete foundation and sump with a nominal 24-foot by 36-foot building enclosure.
The depth of the sump was designed so that the set length of the 629 pumps would not
require modification. The preliminary design cost estimate was based on the use of a pre-
9
