SCOPE OF PROJECT
Tailing relocation:
The tailing is transferred to an existing tailing
deposition area utilizing a Hydraulic Monitoring resIurr_y
method . High pressure (300-400 psi ) water is used to
wash and suspend the tai inu solids in a slurry mixture
wnich is then drawn by an eductor into a slurry pump
intake feed tank . A series of slurry booster pumps
transports the material uphill through a fourteen- inch
(14" ) HDPE pipeline , across the existing No .2 Dam
(Robinson Tailing Pond) to the east side of the existing
Tenmile Tailing Pond . The slurry is then deposited on the
tailing pond utilizing a normal tailing deposition method
wherein the suspended solids are precipitated from
solution , and the water is decanted for reuse in the
process .
Dam Modifications:
The existing dam was approved as a water storage structure
by the State Engineer in 1979 . Upon completion of the
tailing removal , outlet facilities will be constructed
through the existing dam. Design of the ancillary
structures is in progress and approval by the State
Engineer will be sought prior to construction . The
feasibility of future enlargement of the existing dam is
also beinq evaluated at this time .
Construction Site Reclamation:
Upon Completion of the tailing reclamation , all sites
including the slurry pipeline/transfer station route ,
water supply pipelines , access roads , and diversion
facilities disturbed by the project will be graded , back-
fiiiec , recontoured , ana seeded/ revegetatec as per MLRD
specifications .
A, Surface Water Impact:
viaring the tali n9 relGcation process , and subsequent
reclamation activities , ditches and culverts have , c,+- will
be , installed to prevent any contamination from entering
the existing interceptor canals or other fresn water
tributaries or otherwise impacting "Waters of the State" .
- 4 -
