2. Cycloning System (continued) <br /> The pipeline drops steeply away from the cyclones on a 17.5% grade <br /> for 1,600 feet where it meets the old highway grade. This grade is <br /> followed for some 4,000 feet, the pipeline then following along the <br /> side hill to a point at elevation 10,575; here, a branch spigot line <br /> reaches out across the starting base area upstream, and is located <br /> directly below the Mayflower ultimate crest line. The mainline then <br /> continues on down to elevation 10,475, where a second spigot line <br /> crosses the Mayflower Toe Dam and ends. The overall grade of the <br /> pipeline is 4.5%. <br /> Deposition has been alternately switched from the Toe Dam spigot line <br /> to the upstream spigot line from time-to-time to control water pool <br /> location and elevation; the goal being to obtain even deposition of <br /> the cycloned sand in the foundation of the Mayflower Toe Dam, creating <br /> better stability at the face of the dam by optimizing free drainage of <br /> phreatic water and supplying denser material, thus achieving a safer <br /> tailing dam. <br /> 9 <br /> t <br /> 4 s <br /> ' f <br /> AW <br /> Figure 4.
