Page 3
16. Page 10 - 13 and 14: The entire section on the open pit reclamation
is highly speculative in nature and contains little that is enforceable.
17. Page 10 - 18: At the end of the second paragraph of Section 10.14,
you state that some areas may be outside the reach of the hydromulcher.
If so, does this mean no seeding would be attempted?
18. Page 10 - 16: What includes "selected high altitude shrubs?"
19. Page 10 - 14: Reshaping of upper portion of bank slopes appears indefinite.
Will you or won't you and why?
20. Page 10 - 10: We do not object to the approach to determining whether
sludge can be used, but we wish to reserve the right to approve any
plans to use sewage sludge. Need wording that Board approval would be
sought prior to implementing use of sludge.
® 21. Page 6 - 3: Should there be a map showing where numerous inactive mines
are located so as to avoid future confusion over what Climax disturbed?
22. Page 2 - 8: What determines which topsoil is stockpiled and which is
immediately used. Is there some protection for the stockpiles so as
to prevent loss of topsoil?
23. Page 2 - 5: What is meant by "less than 40 feet" wide? How narrow
can the benches be? Is there a range of widths that may be of importance?
We believe many of these questions can probably be resolved in our meeting
on February 8, but even if we come to an agreement, a written response
should be submitted to keep the record as clear as possible.
If you have any questions, please call.
Sincerely,
Mark A.
