1.2.2 CQA/CQC Monitoring of Geosynthetics Installation <br />ame9 <br />• Bedding Fill (BF) was not required during the construction of the Phase 5 <br />VLF. <br />AMEC provided CQA monitoring of geosynthetics used for the 2011 Phase 5 VLF OSA 3rd <br />Portion. CQA services provided by AMEC consisted of performing geosynthetics inventory <br />and checking quality control certifications prior to geosynthetics deployment. AMEC <br />performed geosynthetics CQA activities in accordance with the Geosynthetics CQA Plan <br />(Section 1400.2 of the Specifications; see Appendix E). Geosynthetics CQA activities <br />performed by AMEC included: <br />• Observation and documentation of geomembrane deployment, trial <br />seams, seaming, destructive testing, and non - destructive testing <br />(pressure tests and vacuum tests); <br />• Performing conformance testing of geomembrane; <br />• Measuring geomembrane panel thickness and confirming adequate panel <br />overlap; <br />• Visually inspecting geomembrane sheet quality, sheet grinding, seam <br />alignment, and continuity; and <br />• Retaining archive samples of geomembrane destructive tests and trial <br />seams. <br />1.3 Project Coordination <br />AMEC CQC and CQA activities were directed by the AMEC Project Resident. The AMEC <br />Project Resident (CQA Supervisor) for the construction of the 2011 Phase 5 VLF OSA 3rd <br />Portion for the period January 2009 to November 2011, was Mr. Joseph D. Hickey. The <br />Certifying Engineer and Project Manager, Mr. Jay Janney- Moore, P.E., or his representative, <br />Ms. Kimberly Morrison, P.E., R.G., Project Sponsor, made periodic site visits to resolve <br />technical issues and to review AMEC activities.
