Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7):
Sediment fan on county road south of the green gate has dried and is traversable by vehicle.
The access road around the south extent of Chen's hill and on to the East pit area continues to exhibit
encroachment of gullies from runoff. A SUV was still able to pass through but several locations have gullies
cutting into the road. The dip at the north end of the east pit has sediment deposition,but the vehicle was able to
pass thorough to the Southfield Mine fan access road.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS-Rule 4.15,Rule 3:
Most areas seem to exhibit a self sustaining vegetative community. Ridge tops continue to have thinner vegetative
cover than the lower elevations or the flatter slopes.
The gully on the south side of the road between the east and west pit has cut back further into the slope and
sediment has deposited on the access road.
Overall the site hasn't changed much. Problem areas, steeper slopes still continue to exhibit sediment runoff,
while vegetation established throughout the site has appeared to be surviving the droughty conditions.
REVEGETATION—Rule 4.15 Vegetative Cover;Timing:
The reclaimed mine site is very dry. A localized area corresponding to the highpoint on Chen's hill is bare.
Vegetation lower down on the hill slopes has fair vegetation cover. Gullies on the west side of Chen's Hill persist,
but new gullies were not observed. Few gullies have formed on the east side of Chen's Hill.
Noxious weeds were not observed,but many of the forb species have dried up. The previously identified patch of
knapweed adjacent to the road does not appear to have spread and was not readily apparent during the inspection.
