November 14, 2012C-1980-001/Edna Strip MineRDZ
Several of the check damsabove West Ridge Pond are holding water. The upper check dams are nearly filled in
with sediment. No significant problems were identified. No repair work has been performed at the minor erosion
at CK2. At CK18 earth has been moved from the bottom of the “pond” to the embankment, and a Caterpillar D4H
dozer was on site (it was idle and no operator was seen).
The gullies where the West Ridge Road crosses the West Ridge drainage (identified in September inspection
report)have been repaired. A pile of dirt and riprap has been dumped in the ditch to direct the runoff away from
the larger gully (east side of drainage) and into another ditch that drains to the west side of the drainage. Riprap
has been placed in the gully to the east, the entire length from the road to the bottom of the hill where the gully
flows into the drainage; large boulders are in place at the bottom of the gully and below the culvert pipes. Riprap
has also been used to armor the curve in the gully to the west.
GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLANCE:
The mine was found to be in general compliance with the permit.
ROADS –Rule 4.03Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3)Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4)Surfacing and
Maintenance4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6)Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7):
The following roads were inspected: North Road, Lower Moffat Road, and West Ridge Road. No
problems were observed with the road surfaces or drainage ditches.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS -Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
The terraces in West Ridge were observed and no problems seen. Reclamation site-wide appeared to be in
good shape; no erosion or large weed patches were seen.
SIGNS AND MARKERS –Rule 4.02:
Entrance signs were observed and found to be in compliance.
ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS/COMPLIANCE
No enforcement actions were taken as a result of this inspection, and none are pending.
Number of PartialInspection this Fiscal Year: 3
Number of CompleteInspections this Fiscal Year: 2
310
Page of
