November 16, 2012
MINE ENGINEERING CIVIL ENGINEERING
MINE RECLAMATION CONST. MANAGEMENT
Dear Ms. Burgmaier:
J. E. STOVER & ASSOCIATES, INC.
2352NORTH 7 STREEET, UNIT B
GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO 81501
PHONE: (970) 245 -4101, FAX 242 -7908
Susan Burgmaier
Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Bowie Resources, LLC, Bowie No. 2 Mine
MR -133, Four Utility Holes one Gob Vent Hole
Permit C- 1996 -083
R
mafo
By letter dated November 14th, I submitted an application for a minor revision to allow
the installation of four utility holes. Bowie Resources, LLC, (BRL) needs to add one
gob vent hole to this minor revision. The need for the new GVB has arisen due to
increased gas levels encountered during a specific step in the longwall shield removal
process. Please dispose of the MR -133 materials mailed on November 14th.
On behalf of BRL, enclosed is an application for a minor revision to allow the installation
of four utility holes and one gob vent hole. The four utility holes will be drilled from an
existing disturbed area located north of the large fans located on the utility bench. No
new disturbance is anticipated from the utility hole drilling activity. The gob vent hole
and associated road will disturb approximately 1.3 acres.
Project Narrative
The disturbed area located north of the large ventilation fan will be shaped to form a
small drill pad. A mud pit will be constructed south of the drill pad. Four utility holes will
be drilled from the single drill pad. The 10 inch diameter holes will extend from the
surface to the B -Seam a length of approximately 520 feet. The purpose of the holes is
to run utilities from the D -Seam to the B -Seam. The holes will be sealed from the
surface down to the D -Seam. The area will be reshaped and seeded. All run -off from
the drilling activities will be collected in a sediment pond so no alternative sediment
control is required.
The gob vent hole will be drilled where shown on Map 9. Alternate sediment control will
be provided as shown on Maps 36, 36a and 36b.
Right of Entry
The proposed utility holes and gob vent hole will be installed on surface owned by BRL.
