MR M-Y
MILL SITE EARTHWORKS FIELD MONITORING SUMMARY (WEEKLY REPORT)
Project Title: Mill Site Earthworks
Owner: Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Co.
Location: Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mine
Work Element: Mill Site Earthworks
Date: September 1, 2012
Reporting Period: 8/26/2012 through 9/1/2012
Days
S
M
T
W
T
F
S
Work Shifts
-
D
D
D
D
D
-
D = Day Shift
N =
Night Shift
Project No.: 74201125K0
Contractor: Ames Construction Co., Inc.
Shift: Day /Night
RECEIVED
NnOV 15 2012
Division of Reclamation,
Mining & Safety
Ambient Temperature Range ( °F): Low: 47 °F to 54 °F ( + / -) High: 70 °F to 78 °F
AMEC CQA: Personnel On -site through the Reporting Period (See Attachment A).
Ames: Work activities were paused after the shift on Friday, August 31, 2012 in observance of the Labor
Day holiday. Work activities will continue at the beginning of the day shift on Wednesday, September 5,
2012.
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES and PROGRESS:
I) Earthworks
A) Subgrade Preparation
Subgrade preparation was performed prior to overburden fill placement in the areas shown on
Figure 1. Various CAT dozers were used to rip the existing surface to a depth of at least 6- inches.
Moisture conditioning of the subgrade was performed (when necessary) using a CAT 773 water
truck. Compaction was performed using a 10 -ton vibratory smooth drum compactor passing over
the entire subgrade surface at least four times. The subgrade was inspected and approved by an
AMEC field representative, prior to fill placement.
In most areas, excluding flat areas where fills were started, the subgrade is keyed into as the fill
progresses. This is due to steep slopes that are adjacent to most fill areas. In these instances, the
subgrade is inspected for organics and debris by an AMEC field representative prior to fill
placement (keying into the subgrade).
B) Overburden Fill Placement
Overburden fill was pushed from cut areas using various CAT dozers and placed in the areas
shown on Figure 1. Overburden fill was placed in 36" to 40" loose lifts using various CAT dozers,
keying into existing slopes when necessary. Various CAT excavators with a hammer attachments
"broke up" oversize boulders before they were placed in the fill. Each lift was moisture conditioned
using a CAT 773 water truck (when necessary) and compacted using a 10 -ton vibratory smooth
drum compactor, passing over the entire fill surface at least 4 times (method compaction
technique was applicable).
MEW Weekly Report WE 09.01.2012
