Spring 2012 Subsidence and Geologic Field Observations
Box Canyon, Apache Rocks, and South of Divide Mining Areas
4.0 TRAVERSES AND OBSERVATIONS IN THE BOX CANYON, APACHE
ROCKS, AND SOD MINING AREAS
A detailed discussion of observations associated with traverses A -A' through P -P' (along with
accompanying Maps 1 and 2) is provided in this section. Many of the photographs taken during
the spring 2012 field visit are included as figures in the text of this report. Where these images
have notable differences from comparable photographs taken in previous years, some of the older
images are also included for comparison purposes.
To reduce the overall size of this document, narrative text and photographs for traverses where
no noticeable change was observed are generally not included in this report. Photographs were
obtained from each of the photographic observation points (unless as previously noted) and
compared with photographs taken in previous years. See previous reports for traverses
photographic observation points not included in this report.
4.1 Traverse A - A' Through H - H'
Traverses A -A' through H -H' were each visited during the spring 2012 field visit. Observation
notes and photographic documentation were obtained. However, no noticeable changes were
observed between the fall 2011 and spring 2012 field visit (both as observed in the field and in
comparison of photographs taken from each field visit). As such, specific details associated with
these traverses (i.e., topographic description, overburden depth, exposed surficial materials, etc.)
are not included in this report but can be found in older versions of this biannual report (for
example, Spring 2009).
Photographs obtained from Photographic Observation Points 1, 2 and 3 along Traverses A -A'
through H -H' were compared to images obtained from these locations in previous visits. These
photographic comparisons found there to be no observable changes.
831 - 032.794
November 2012
Wright Water Engineers, Inc. Page 8
