will consist of those listed in response to
Question H. 8.
16. Q. To what depth will topsoil be reapplied to
surface disturbances around the Arkansas
reservoir?
A. Topsoil will be redistributed over portions of
disturbed land around the reservoir to a depth
of 4 to 12 inches .
17. Q. On the McNulty Dump, islands of topsoil should
be placed in section 2 to aid in the transition
from section 1 to section 3.
A. The amendments we have requested do not propose
any changes in the size or location of the
McNulty Dump; nor do they propose any change in
our plans to finally reclaim it. However , due
to the change in use of the "Old Tailing Pond"
Waste Rock Dump to a Low Grade Ore Stockpile , we
will have a reserve of approximately 50, 000
cubic yards of topsoil that can be used on the
transition section of McNulty Waste Rock Dump.
This quantity of topsoil would suffice only for
islands, or some large portions on the mid-
sections of the dump. Topsoil depth could be 4
to 6 inches on benches and less than 6 inches on
bank slopes .
18. Q. Please describe the structural stability of the
slopes where gabions have been used. What is
the estimated life of the gabions and what would
happen if the gabions fail?
A. Refer to response G. 6.
19. Q. If the Clinton Canal needs to be maintained , how
much maintenance is required and who will do it?
A. Under our present plans, Clinton Canal will not
have to be maintained after reclamation is
complete .
-21-
