Several items were discussed. It was felt
by all parties involved that several issues were in need of further
elaboration.
We, therefore, submit the following "points for further discussion"
and request further elaboration of each by Climax.
1. What percent of all affected or disturbed lands are to be
reclaimed as talus slope?
We have some question as to whether or not a talus slope
can be considered reclamation. If so, is there some action
that can be taken to decrease slippage and promote plant
growth (i. e. aerial fertilization, seeding, etc. )? Has re-
search been conducted on the subject of talus slope reclamation
and what are the results?
2. Slippage of talus slopes can logically be expected to occur.
How much slippage is expected? What will be the final angle
of repose? How much surrounding land will be affected by
the slippage process? Will Climax accept responsibility for
reclamation of adjacent lands affected by the slippage of talus
slopes?
3. How much subsidence will occur after mining has been completed?
Will this be monitored? Will subsidence force contaminated water
in abandoned mine tunnels to the surface?
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES,Monte Pascoe, Executive Director • WILDLIFE COMMISSION,Wilbur Redden,Chairman
Donald Fernandez,Vice Chairman •James Smith,Secretary •Jean K.Tool,Member •Vernon C.Williams,Member
Michael Higbee,Member • Sam Caudill,Member 9 Richard Divelbiss,Member
