S. Army Corps of <br /> Engineers ( 404 Dredge and Fill Permit) with input from <br /> various agencies such as the Division of Wildlife, U. S. Fish <br /> and Wildlife Service , Environmental Protection Agency, <br /> Department of Water Quality, and the State archaeologist. <br /> The purpose of the dam is to provide increased spill <br /> protection. <br /> The dai would be 52 feet high, 640 feet long and require <br /> 83,000 yds. of selected earth materials from the excavated <br /> basin . The dam would be capable of retaining 559 acre feet <br /> of water . The water return pipeline and powerline each would <br /> be approximately 5600 feet long . The West interceptor canal <br /> system would be extended 4,800 feet along the west side of <br /> the basin. The East interceptor canal system would be <br /> extended 2, 500 feet across the valley bottom and tied into <br /> the West interceptor canal . Constructed access roads would <br /> be 1 , 300 feet in length. <br /> Construction activities would commence with the removal <br /> of all topsoil. The topsoil would be stockpiled near the <br /> southern perimeter of the basin and returned for revegetating <br /> the site according to our reclamation goals and specifica- <br /> tions with any excess to be used at other reclamation sites . <br /> Subsequent to termination of operations, unless required to <br /> do otherwise , Climax will commit to maintaining the dam to <br /> preserve its integrity for possible future beneficial uses. <br />
