(i) An estimate of the periods of time, which will be required for the various phases:
Dependent on market demand, the entire operation is expected to last from 40 to 45 years.
However, the time frame is based on market demand at present demand levels, therefore it is hoped
that the mining will cease before the end of the time table expected life of mine.
At a future date, the Applicant/Operator may submit a Permit Amendment with revisions to
relocate some or all the facilities originally located on the in other Phase areas.
(ii) and (iii) Describe the size and location of each area; outline the sequence of each phase
Their locations and sizes are available from the mine plan and reclamation plan maps.
Once mining is complete in each cell, the in- slopes of each cell will be stabilized. The location and
size of each completed cell may be found on the mining and reclamation maps, attached.
The location and size of stockpiles and processing area may be found on the mining and
reclamation maps, attached.
At this point, it is the desire of the Applicant /Operator /Landowner to leave all existing roads
developed as part of the mining and reclamation operations for use during operation of the
developed water resource.
(f) Measures that will be taken to revegetate the site:
(i) Final grade of slopes: The final grade of the relocated Excelsior ditch side slopes will be
3H: 1V or less. The interior slopes of the earthen embankments pit slopes will vary between 3h: lv
and 51-1: 1V dependent upon the design for each particular area of these structures. The out - slopes
of these structures will not be steeper than 3h: 1 v. The remainder of the areas needing reclamation
will be graded to blend in with the surrounding area. The pit floor will be left as is upon
completion of mining.
(ii) Seeding specifications: The NRCS recommendation is to seed between November 1 and
April 30 Late fall seeding is preferred and proposed if at all possible. The seedbed will be
scarified and then drilled (if not broadcast) across the slopes. Cereal grain straw or grass hay (free
of weed seeds) will be applied at the rate of two (2) tons of mulch per acre to the topsoil surface
and appropriately tacked or crimped to the soil surface. Areas will be seeded with grass a drill.
(The Operator /Applicant reserves the option to broadcast seed at twice the seeding rate in those
areas where drill seeding may present a hazard to equipment and operators.) The following table
lists the species to be seeded and rates:
