Mr. DeWitt
Page 13
October 29, 2012
10. The Mining Plan Map depicts a telephone line which has been labeled as `abandoned'.
During the pre- operation inspection conducted on October 18, 2012, the Operator indicated
the telephone line is still in use. If the telephone line has not been abandoned, then please
revise the label on the Mining Plan Map.
6.4.4 Exhibit D — Mining Plan
11. The Mining Plan states the site will be operated less than 180 days per year. Please note that
sites that operate intermittently (less than 180 days per year) may only do so for weather,
wildlife or jurisdictional restrictions; sites may not remain inactive for reasons related to
market conditions. A site is considered to be active if the Operator is removing product from
stockpiles; weed control and normal site maintenance activities do not count towards an
active status. If a site is inactive for 180 consecutive days or more, then the Operator will
need to file a Notice of Temporary Cessation in accordance with Rule 1.13.5.
6.4.5 Exhibit E — Reclamation Plan
12. The Reclamation Plan calls for replacing topsoil at a depth of 3 "- 5 "; however, the Mining
Plan states that 5 " -11" of topsoil would be salvaged and stockpiled. Please clarify this
discrepancy.
13. The currently approved Reclamation Plan states the reclaimed slopes will be 3H:1 V and
4H:1V. The proposed Reclamation Plan states the final grade of the reclaimed slopes will be
4H:1 V or flatter. Please note that if any of the existing pit walls have already been reclaimed
to 3H:1 V, then they will need to be graded to 4H:1 V or flatter prior to final release of the
site.
14. The currently approved Reclamation Plan states the haul road will remain for the
landowner's use. The proposed Reclamation Plan states the haul road will be reclaimed.
Please confirm that the haul road will be reclaimed upon the completion of mining.
6.4.6 Exhibit F — Reclamation Plan Map
15. The permit boundary, as depicted on the Reclamation Plan Map, encompasses 19.26 acres.
The application form indicates the proposed permit boundary will encompass 19.77 acres.
Please clarify account for the additional 0.51 acres which have not been depicted on the
Reclamation Plan Map. Please see additional comments under Exhibit C, No. 7.
16. As required by Rule 6.2.1(2)(e), please revise the Reclamation Plan Map to include a north
arrow.
