As part of the drilling
activities, packer testing of discrete bedrock intervals will be conducted prior to well installation. Upon
well completion and after allowing the water levels to stabilize in the wells, slug testing may be conducted
in some or all of the new wells if needed to further evaluate hydraulic conductivity.. Upon completion of
the field drilling and physical testing investigation, a field investigation summary report will be generated
describing the investigative activities.
As part of the field investigation, a review of publically available information for nearby private wells will be
conducted to ascertain if there is available geologic and chemistry data. This well information would be
obtained from such agencies as the Colorado Division of Water Resources (DWR), Larimer County, and
the U.S Geological Survey.
Subsequently, four quarters of groundwater monitoring of the new wells will be performed in conjunction
with the existing monitoring wells. The groundwater sampling analytical parameters would be the same
as those for the current monitoring program for the existing monitoring wells. Four quarters of sampling
from the new wells is needed to obtain representative data of in situ groundwater conditions following
drilling disturbance.
Upon completion of the chemical testing component of the investigation, a Characterization Report would
be generated to address all DRMS issues /questions in their June 25, 2012 letter and specifically evaluate
whether the groundwater has been impacted by CKD disposal. If CKD impacts to groundwater are
apparent or likely, the report will identify a list of potential measures that should be taken to minimize or
control these impacts. This list will be used for further discussion with the DRMS for moving the Site
toward full release of reclamation liability.
103- 81640A
Golder
Associates
