October 2012
Attorney Work Product,
Confidential and Privileged
11
• Whether there are private wells that are currently representative of background
conditions in the same formations that is now showing evidence of impact.
103- 81640A
2.4 Monitoring
After the physical well hydraulic testing is completed on the newly installed monitoring wells, it is
anticipated that four rounds of quarterly groundwater monitoring (water level measurement and water
quality sampling) will be performed and will begin in the first quarter of 2013. Due to the low hydraulic
conductivities observed in three of the four existing monitor wells, it is anticipated that the new wells may
take considerable time (e.g., weeks or months) to stabilize and be reflective of in situ groundwater
chemistry following the disturbance by drilling.
This monitoring will be conducted in accordance with the procedures outlined in the sampling and
analysis plan (Golder 2010a, 2010b). It is anticipated that monitoring will be performed on both the three
new monitoring wells and the four existing monitoring wells (seven wells total). The new well monitoring
events will be consistent with the monitoring events for the existing wells so that the results will be
comparable. The constituents to be analyzed for this water quality sampling will be the same as currently
being conducted on a quarterly basis for the existing wells (pH, total dissolved solids, dissolved metals,
cations, anions, gross alpha, gross beta, and alkalinity as bicarbonate and carbonate).
\10 \81640\ 0400\ charactenzationpin_ fnl- 23octl2 \charactenzationpin_fnl- 23octl2 docx
Golder
Associates
