y
STATE, OF COLORADO
DIVISION OF MINERALS AND GEOLOGY
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver,Colorado 80203
Phone (303)866-3567
FAX:(303)832-8106
DEPARTMENT OF
NATURAL
DATE: June 18, 1996 RESOURCES
Roy Romer
TO: All Bidders on the Coal Basin Road Reclamation Project Governor
James S Lochhead
Executive Director
FROM: Steve Renner, Project Manager Michael B Long
Division Director
RE: Amendment Number 1 to PKA-6-376
Thank you for attending the pre-bid meeting on June 17, 1996. My telephone number is (970)
241-0336. Map 4, Earth Work and Map 5,Hydrologic Structures, were distributed at the Pre-Bid
Meeting and should be incorporated into the bid document.
A copy of the sign in sheet is attached. The Forest Service has provided the attached list of
sources for certified weed free mulch.
The following amendments and clarifications should be incorporated into the Invitation for Bid:
1 . The purpose of the Additive Alternate for backfilling the Mine 3 Fan Road is to allow the
Division the opportunity to compare costs in order to determine the manner in which to
reclaim this road segment. Tasks 3 and 4 require that parts of the road be graded to a
0% slope, and that parts be graded to a 1 % slope; that 15 rolled dips be constructed and
that the road be ripped and revegetated. The bid price of the Additive Alternate should
take into account the cost to backfill the road to the specifications outlined on page 14
of the Invitation to Bid, minus the savings of not accomplishing the grading and ripping
or construction of the rolled dips outlined in Tasks 3 and 4. Fill material will be excavated
from below the road in the quantity necessary to achieve the configuration specified in
the Additive Alternate.
The lowest responsible bid will be determined using the procedure outlined under Additive
Alternates on page 3 of the Special Conditions. The alternate shall be added to the base
bid of each bidder within funds available to finance the contract for the purposes of
determining the lowest responsible bidder. The use of the alternate will be at the sole
discretion of the State. Contractors are required to submit a bid bond for the amount of
their base bid only.
2. Please note that the project is scheduled to begin on July 22, 1996, and will end on
September 27, 1996. The time of completion for the project is sixty seven (67) days,
including ten (10) days mobilization time after receipt of the Notice to Proceed.
