northern portion of the Storage Yard Bench. This berm will be pulled back onto the adjacent
bench and graded flat to eliminate depressions in this area, and to promote sheet flow of
surface water off the bench.
A berm estimated to be 3 feet tall by 5 feet wide by 100 feet in length exists adjacent to the
road leading to the Storage Yard from Mine 1 . This berm will be pulled back onto the adjacent
bench and graded flat to eliminate depressions in this area, and to promote sheet flow of
surface water off the road.
Six (6) contour furrows will be constructed on the bench remnant to contain runoff. These
furrows are described, and will be constructed and paid for, under Task 5, Surface Drainage;
Contour Furrows.
Upon completion of backfilling, grading and drainage construction, the bench remnant shall
be ripped to a depth of eighteen (18) inches.
Task 4d - Mine 1
Mine 1 is characterized by a discontinuous highwall which serviced the mine entries. Entry
areas will be backfilled with material obtained from road and bench outslopes opposite the
entry areas. The topography is very steep in this location, and the area is prone to
avalanches. Therefore, backfilling of the Mine 1 highwall will be confined to limited areas as
described below.
Reclamation tasks shall be described as if proceeding from south to north along the Mine 1
highwall cut.
The southern-most entry is open, and may be backfilled with rubbelized debris during Task 2,
Demolition. If the entry has not been completely filled with debris, earthen materials shall be
used to backfill the remainder of the entry. The entry shall be filled from the block wall to the
entrance, and from floor to roof. Extreme care shall be exercised in order that damage to the
block wall not occur.
After the entry is filled, the highwall in this location shall be backfilled to a height of ten (10)
feet. It is estimated that the width of the backfill will be fifteen 0 5) feet. Upon completion,
the slope of the fill shall not be steeper than 1 .5H:1 V. Any debris or rubble to be buried at
this location shall be buried to a minimum depth of four (4) feet during completion of this
Task.
The slope which exists immediately east of this entry shall be graded downslope to the east
at no steeper than 2H:1 V. Any rubble to be disposed of in this location must be covered by
a minimum of four (4) feet of material.
The bulkhead of the next entry north displays the initials "MCCCC". Rubble and debris may
be disposed of between the southern-most entry and this entry against the cut slope. This
area will be backfilled to a height of ten (10) feet, and the backfilled slope will not exceed
2H:1 V upon completion of operations. Any debris or rubble to be buried at this location shall
be buried to a minimum depth of four (4) feet during completion of this Task. Earthen
13
