STATE OF COLORADO
DIVISION OF MINERALS AND GEOLOGY
Department of Natural Resources Pow, ,T,
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver,Colorado 80203
Phone (303)866-3567
FAX (303)832-8106 ilol
DEPARTMENT OF
NATURAL
RESOURCES
MEMORANDUM
Roy Romer
Governor
Jame.5 Loc hhi r!
Date• June 5, 1996 EW(011,e t)irri t
Michael f3 I :,
To: All Bidders on the Coal Basin/Rock Tunnel Project
From: Steve Renner, Project Manager
Subject: Amendment Number 2 to PRA-6-372
A prospective bidder requested some clarification regarding the
construction of the surface channel for the rock tunnel discharge.
In order to clarify the location of the channel to be constructed,
the following addition to Task 6, Surface Drainage, Rock Tunnel
Discharge, is provided:
1. In order to minimize the amount of excavation necessary
to construct the surface channel, the channel shall be
completed so that it follows the existing contour while
maintaining the required channel profiles. The intent of
this work is to convey the mine drainage from the mine
tunnel outlet to Dutch Creek above the rock tunnel dump
road culvert. During the prebid meeting held on May 24 ,
1996, all prospective bidders where shown the approximate
location of the channel route. [The channel shall be
constructed on contour from the point just south of the
low water crossing of the haul road to its confluence
with Dutch Creek. ] Channel design and grade together
with the additional clarifiers in the bid document remain
unchanged. As indicated in the prebid meeting and the
bid document, contractors are encouraged to survey this
prospective channel location to minimize the amount of
material which will have to be excavated for channel
construction.
2 . All terms and conditions of the Invitation and Bid other than
as changed by this amendment remain the same.
3 . Receipt and acceptance of this amendment shall be acknowledged
on the bid form.
