The remaining material generated from the grading of the ponds will be used to reclaim the Lower Mine
Area. This leads to a total of 734 cubic yards of material that will need to be moved via dozer to re-
contour the ponds at a cost of $0.75 per cubic yard. This leads to cost of $0.75 per cy x 734 cy = $551.
10. Reclamation of ventilation shafts (4) by sealing with surface excavation, plate and polyurethane foam,
as described in the reclamation plan (Exhibit E) The cost is $3,580 per vent shaft. The estimated cost is
$3,580 x 4 shafts = $14,320.
11. Placing soil material on all remaining disturbed areas of the site (excluding waste embankment) to a
depth of 6 inches This area includes the Lower Mine Area, which consists of the area of the mine
building, fuel tank, portal area and other minor areas. The subtotal is 1.2 acres. Therefore, the total area
requiring topsoiling is 1.2 acres which will require 968 cy of soil to be imported to the site. The cost of
placement is expected to be $1.20 per cy. Therefore, the total cost is $1.20 per cy x 968 cy = $1,161.60.
Roads will be left in place for future access to the site and will not be covered with soil material.
12. Ripping topsoil to a depth of 3 inches on an area of 1.2 acres This cost is $200 per acre for a total cost
= $240. The waste embankment area will be pocked and not ripped.
13. Seed This amounts to 1.3 acres and primarily consists of the waste embankment. The cost of the work
is $1,200 per acre. The cost is therefore 1.3 acres x $1,200 per acre = $1,560.
14. Hvdroseed and mulch on all slopes greater than 3H:1 V Broadcast seed and mulch on all slopes 3H:1V
or less. This is 6.9 acres and primarily consists of the upper mine area ponds, ventilation shaft areas and
other minor areas. The cost of this work is $600 per acre. The cost is therefore 6.9 acres x $600 per acre
= $4,140.
15. Mobilization costs will consist of the following:
i. CAT track hoe $1,500
ii. CAT D -7 $1,200
iii. 2 tandem trucks $600
iv. Seeding equipment $1,500
Total mobilization cost = $4,800.
L -4
