Exhibit L
Reclamation Costs
JD -9 Mine Permit Amendment
M- 1977 -306
The worst case reclamation scenario is based on the current conditions at the JD -9 Mine.
Table L -1, JD -9 Reclamation Costs
Mine Waste and Portal Area Cost
1. Remove culvert $2,470
2. Re- contour waste area $10,500
3. Pocking waste area $3,150
4. Removing all surface facilities $34,240
5. Removing liners and precipitates $6,400
6. Radioactive testing of the pond area $1,560
7. Scrape the top material from ore pad $240
8. Seal portal $40
9. Re- contour treatment ponds $551
10. Reclamation of ventilations shafts $14,320
11. Replacing topsoil $1,162
12. Ripping topsoil $240
13. Seed $1,560
14. Hydroseed and mulch $4,140
15. Mobilization costs $4,800
Total $86,933
The worst case reclamation task items are described below and correspond to the tasks as shown in Table L -1:
1. Removing waste material and the associated culvert from the drainage immediately west of the portal
area and waste embankment A track hoe will remove the roughly 1,300 cubic yards of waste and place
it in trucks which will then haul the material to the top of the waste pile for a bulldozer distribution. A
small portion of this material will be used to seal the mine portal. See Task 8. It is estimated that the
combined cost will be $1.90 per cubic yard. The cost for this task is $1.90 cy x 1300 cy = $2,470.
2. Regrading the waste pile to a 1.8H.•1 V slope with a bulldozer Currently, it is slightly steeper
(1.5H:1 V). This quantity, calculated in Survcadd, is 14,000 cubic yards. This will require an average
dozer push of approximately 30 feet vertically up or down. The upper slopes will be brought upward
and the material, from the midway point downward, will be pushed down. The estimated unit cost for
this work is $0.75 per cubic yard. The cost for this task is $0.75 per cy x 14,000 cy = $10,500.
L -1
