The cost to spread the cover material is based on loading the estimated 300 Icy soil in a
10 ton articulated mine trucks with a 930 Cat loader, or equivalent, and hauling the
material from the soil stockpile over to the re- contoured dump. A D -6 dozer, or
equivalent, will be used to spread the soil over the mine waste rock stockpile (an area of
approximately 3 acres) after it is dumped by the mine trucks. The time required for the
truck to haul this material and dump it on the mine waste rock pile is approximately 8
hours. The time required for the dozer to spread the previously stockpiled soil material
down the slopes of the dump at an average depth of 3 inches is 300 lcy /4141cy /hr = 45
minutes.
Cost = (1 truck x $ 75 /hr x 8hr) + (1 loader x $95 /hr x 8 hr)
+ (1 dozer x $145 /hr x 8hr)
= $2520
The cost to pock the re- contoured mine waste dump is based on using a Cat 315
excavator, or equivalent, to pock approximately 1 acre of the steeper slopes of the mine
waste dump. This should take 2 days to complete.
Cost = 1 excavator x $125 /hr x 10 hrs = $1250
The cost to re -seed the mine waste dump area is based on broadcast seeding
approximately 4.5 acres of re- contoured mine waste dump area and the mine yard. Two
people would be able to do this work in 6 hours.
Cost = (2 people x 6 hr /day x $25 /hr) + (4.5 ac x 22.8 lbs seed/ac x $8.08/lb seed)
= $1129
The cost to plug the venthole is based on pouring a concrete plug 3 feet thick into the top
portion of the venthole. This plug will then be covered with approximately 3 feet of mine
waste material using a Cat 950 loader, or equivalent. One foot of soil will then be spread
over the mine waste fill using the loader. Prior experience plugging ventholes in this area
indicates that a crew of 4 men can remove the collar material, set the base for the
concrete plug, and pour the concrete in 2 days. The backfill material can be placed in a
half day after the concrete has dried.
Cost/venthole
= (6 yds concrete x $150 /yd) + (4 men x $30 /hr x 2 days /man x 8 hr /day) +
($95 /hr x 4 hr x 1 loader) + (4 hr x $95 /hr x 1 excavator /no operator)
= $3580 /venthole
