PHASE
TIME
Sealing of adits, shafts, ventholes, etc.
Within 12 months of finalizing
mining operations
Removal of surface buildings
Same as above
Grading of waste area and other affected lands
6 months
Preparation of seedbed, where applicable
2 months
Re- vegetation, where applicable
2 -3 years
E. Ventilation shafts
F. Surface runoff control berms and ponds
G. Utilities
H. Waste rock pile
I. Ore stockpile
(For a list of acreages associated with each surface disturbance see Exhibit D - Mining
Plan)
Due to the small area involved and the underground nature of the mine, constant use of
above ground disturbed area is necessary. Therefore, reclamation cannot begin until all
mining activity has ceased. Except for stockpiling and stabilization of topsoil (if
applicable), the reclamation process will not begin while mining is in- progress. Once
reclamation begins, it should be completed within 5 years. See table below for estimated
times for each phase of the reclamation process.
A. Portal
The portal will be backfilled with waste materials to a depth where competent
rock is encountered (approximately 50 -100 feet), and graded to match the
surrounding topography. Based on the determination by Colorado Parks and
Wildlife, "bat gates" may be used.
B. Mine Yard
The mine yard will not be stripped of soil; it will only need to be ripped and
seeded.
C. Mining Buildings
The water and fuel tanks will be hauled offsite. The shop and compressor
buildings will be dismantled and hauled offsite. Foundations will be broken up
and placed into the portal prior to backfilling. The underlying soil will then be
ripped and seeded.
D. Haulage Ramps
