RE: Inactive Mine Program, Coal Basin Project
Following a detailed search of the Mid-Continent Resources permit application
and other Division files, it appears that the operator's reclamation
responsibilities in the area of the Coal Basin No. 5 Mine are limited to the
pad area adjacent to the portals. The disturbed area is shaded on the
enclosed map (from Map Vi-A-1-a, Sheet 2, Volume 9 of the Mid-Continent permit
application).
The strip area which is the subject of the IMP project is a pre-law
disturbance for which, to the Division's knowledge, Mid-Continent Resources
has no reclamation responsibilities.
