Coal Basin Project Narrative
Reclamation work will consist of minor runon structures to divert surface
water flows from the upper coal flat and slope areas. Riprap lined runoff
structures would be constructed to accommodate and direct flows off of the
impacted areas and gulleyed downcast slopes and would be assimilated by the
existing wetland area at the base of the eastern downslope area. An existing
coal waste pile northeast of the eastern downslope area and immediately
adjacent to Coal Creek would be regraded and partially relocated immediately
to the south in an existing depression. Prior to grading, all existing
topsoils will be stockpiled and redistributed after final grading. The upper
coal flat would be regraded to promote revegetation success including contour
furrowing and the selective handling of materials suitable for revegetation.
Runoff from the upper coal flat area will be contained in dozer basins to
likewise promote revegetative success. All disturbed areas will be seeded,
mulched and crimped. Construction is scheduled to commence in July, 1991.
