TO: ALL CONTRACTORS BIDDING ON THE COAL BASIN PROJECT RN-MINES-270
FROM: PAUL KRABACHER, PROJECT MANAGER
RE: AMENDMENT No. 1 TO RN-MINES-270
Thank-you for your interest and attendance to the Coal Basin Project pre-bid
meeting held yesterday. The following clarifications and amendments should be
incorporated into the Invitation for Bid document:
1) A revised Bid Schedule is enclosed to be submitted with your bid and
Amendment Acknowledgement sheet. Changes on the Bid Schedule include the
following:
a) The number of hours for the dozer time related to the coal
waste pile relocation has been increased to 70 hours.
b) The number of feet for Type A Channel construction has been
increased to 2000 linear feet.
c) Additional Item No. 7 includes 40 hours of a minimum 58 FHP
backhoe/excavator for removing coal waste adjacent to Coal
Creek. Please refer to the Equipment Rental section and
related formula if a larger machine is to be used.
d) Additional Item No. 8 includes the incorporation of 10 tons of
native grown hay per acre by disking into the regraded coal
bench area to a minimum depth of 6-8 inches. Three (3) acres
will be treated as such.
2) The relocation of the power lines crossing the work area related to the
coal waste pile relocation will be the responsibility of MLRD.
Contractors will bid on work related to this area, referenced in Items 2,
6, and 7, assuming the lines will be relocated. The work related to Item
2 and 7, Coal Waste Relocation and Regrading and Excavator time, must
include the cost for remobilization/redemobilizatin in the event that the
power lines cannot be relocated prior to the completion of the other
project phases and this phase is to be rescheduled.
3) The minimum FHP for the dozer work referenced under Item 2 and 4 will be
140 or a D-6D equivalent. For calculation and bidding purposes, the 70
hours will still be referenced to the 410 FHP/D-9 equivalent. If the
contractor plans to furnish a machine other than the 410 FHP/D-9
equivalent, he must write the FHP of the machine under the bid item on the
Bid Schedule, and adjust the unit price to insert in the Bid Schedule by
doing the computations as explained under the Equipment Rental section.
