Portal Sealing. <br /> Portals are sealed according to plans approved by the Mine Safety and Health <br /> Administration (MSHA). The sealing plan was approved by MSHA on June 23, 1993. <br /> Of 52 original portals, 37 have been sealed or caved shut, for a total of 71%. This <br /> includes 21 sealed by R. & G. during the summer of 1993. <br /> Dutch Creek#1 Mine. <br /> Portals 15 through 21, total 7. Two portals remain, #22 and#38. #38, the main <br /> fan portal, will be among the last four sealed, along with the two Coal Basin Adit <br /> portals (#39 and#40) and the No. 2 Mine main fan portal(#41). <br /> LS. Wood No. 3 Mine <br /> All portals-have been sealed. A chronology: <br /> 7/21/92 MCR submits sealing,plan in anticipation <br /> of closing the Dutch Creek Mine. <br /> 7/28/92 MSHA disapproves plan. <br /> 10/4192 Dutch Creek Mine declared "abandoned." <br /> 10/6/92 - MCR submits revised sealing plan. <br /> 10/19/92 MSHA rejects sealing plan. <br /> 11/4/92 MCR submits revised sealing plan. <br /> 6/4/93 MSHA responds, disapproves plan. <br /> 6/17/93 MCR submits revised plan. <br /> Some of the issues which required the several revisions to the plan arose due to the <br /> fact that power had been turned off at the mine, which meant that (1) mechanical <br /> Portal Sealing <br />
