See attached map. <br /> The Forest Service has given us approval to re-open that <br /> portion of an existing light-use road shown in solid red. <br /> The modification consists of extending this light use road <br /> (dashed red) and constructing escapeway portals in both the <br /> B -and Middle Coal beds . A total of approximately 3 acres <br /> of disturbed land will be added to the 407 acres identified <br /> in our current permit application - an increase of . 007 percent. <br /> Reclamation of this road and the two portal areas will be <br /> accomplished as outlined for other roads and portals in our <br /> permit application. Details will be included as additions <br /> to the permit application as part of the adequacy review <br /> process. <br /> In order to compensate for the closure of our No. 1 mine <br /> due to the recent accident, and to improve the safety of the <br /> No. ' s 2 & 3 mines, this modification is required as soon as <br /> possible. <br /> Sincerely yours, <br /> George E Wear <br /> Director, Special Projects <br /> GEW:rm <br /> Attachment <br />
