Addition Repairs to #5
Mine Road
Dear Mr. Crick:
Mid-Continent Resources requests approval of Minor Revision #30 to
Permit C-81-017 in order to carry out further repairs to the wash-
out area on #5 mine road.
The road was not kept open during last winter. The wash-out was
discovered when the road was opened this spring, at a crossing of
Coal Creek. Work was done to stabilize the outslope, including
placement of steel bolts and fill material down the slope. Timbers
and steel bolts were placed around the upper side of the road at
the culvert.
However, a large storm event on July 20 caused further damage.
More extensive work will have to be done to the outslope, and
around the culvert above the road.
Mid-Continent will do the following, on approval:
Cut the protruding culvert above the point where it is
bent. Then anchor brattice cloth to the culvert, forming
an apron below to prevent erosion of the channel under
the culvert.
Put river rock down the outslope and in the channel under
the culvert. The rock will be transported and put over
the bank with a front-end loader. If necessary, a drag-
line will be brought in to place the rock.
Fill material will be placed on the sloughed area immediately
