Request for Minor Revision.
Dear Mr. Waldron:
Mid-Continent Resources requests a minor revision to permit us to do work on the
south side of Dutch Creek as it flows past the warehouses. The objective of this work
will be to stabilize and armor the base of the hill against naturally occuring erosion.
We propose to do some minor work on the north bank of the stream to allow equipment
access; we then propose to place large sized rock along the base of the hillside, at the
level of Dutch Creek, for a distance of several hundred feet. Smaller size rock would
then be worked in with the large rock, and placed above it as well. We propose to
transport the rock from the north side, across the stream, then place it on the
embankment with a loader.
We will obtain the largest rocks possible from around the permit area. I anticipate that
the principal source will be in the area of the Sutey pile. The fall is typically the low
water period for this stream, and I would anticipate the base of the rock buttress will be
within the range of the normal high water mark, although most of the material will rest
on the embankment above it. I believe it is necessary to armor the embankment at this
level to prevent it undercutting the bank.
Yours truly,
Diane Delaney
Mid-Continent Resources
cc: Mike Claffee, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
