6
gamma and neutron density in order to delineate the ore body.
Resistivity logs were also run if ground water was encountered.
The geophysical logs from these numerous test holes were reviewed
to determine where and at what depth ground water was present.
Sufficient datra was available from 224 of the holes for use in our
study. Ground water levels were measured during this investigation in
twelve accessible holes by lowering an electrical sensing probe down
the hole until the ground water level was contacted and an electrical
circuit was completed, producing a reading on the instrument's gauge.
Based on the long term water levels measured in these selected holes,
we concluded that ground water levels were not significantly affected
by the drilling operation and that the levels measured at the tine of
drilling were an accurate representation of the static ground water
conditions.
REGIONAL GEOLOGY
The JD-5 uranium lease is located about 12 miles west of
Naturita, Colorado as shown on Fig. 1. The lease is located on the
southwestern side of the Paradox Valley. The valley has resulted from
collapse and erosion along the crest of a northwest trending
salt -cored anticline. The Paradox Valley anticline and adjacent
northwest trending salt anticlines are located in the Canyon Lands
section of the Colorado Plateau physiographic province, Fenneman
(1931). This section of the Colorado Plateau is characterized by
flat -lying to gently dipping sedimentary rocks which have deeply
incised canyons cut by the Colorado River and its principal
