Gold Eagle Mining Inc.
JD -5 Mine Permit Number M- 1977 -248
9.0 Groundwater Quality Data
Given the remote nature of the JD -5 and the fact that there are no residences within 2 miles of
the facility there are no "reasonably potential future ground water uses on and within two (2)
miles down- gradient of the affected lands." No groundwater was encountered in test pits during
studies conducted for the Gates and Fox work. Due to the ongoing prohibition of activity on
DOE lands monitoring wells cannot be installed at the JD -5 location at this time. Storm water
management is provided under the auspices of the General Storm Water Discharge Permit issued
CDPHE. Routine inspections by the operator and DMRS have not revealed any difficulty as to
storm water control and the facility has been found in compliance. It is understood that the
CDPHE Water Quality Control Division is revising its general Storm Water Permit for Mining
Activities over the next year and a Plan (if necessary) will be developed in accordance with the
requirements of that Permit.
10.0 Surface Water Control and Containment Facilities Information
Surface water control and containment is conducted under the auspices of the General Storm
Water Discharge Permit Issued by the CDPHE for all mining operations. Routine inspection by
the Operator and the DMRS are conducted and surface water controls have been deemed
adequate.
11.0 Surface Water Quality Data
As there are no surface waters within 2 miles downstream of the JD -5 facility, there is no surface
water receiving stream standard, sampling data, or existing or reasonably potential future uses of
surface water to be reported in accordance with Rule 6.4.21
10
Environmental Protection Plan -JD -5 September, 2012
