Moisture conditioning
of the subgrade was performed (when necessary) using a tandem -axle water truck. Compaction
was performed using a 10 -ton vibratory smooth drum compactor passing over the entire subgrade
surface at least four times. The subgrade shown on Figure 2 was inspected and approved by an
AMEC field representative for SLF placement.
B) Overburden Fill Placement
No work performed during the week.
C) Slope Contouring
No work performed during the week.
D) Soil Liner Fill (SLF)
Soil liner fill (SLF) placement was performed in the areas shown on Figure 3. Subgrade was
approved and moisture conditioned prior to placement using a tandem -axle water truck.
Placement was performed using various CAT dozers and a John Deere 120 excavator in a one -
foot compacted lift. SLF material was hauled to the Mill Platform from the temporary SLF stockpile
previously located from the East Cresson stockpile using CAT 40 -ton articulating haul trucks
loaded by a CAT 988 front -end loader. Moisture conditioning of SLF material was performed in
place using a tandem -axle water truck and compaction was achieved using a 10 -ton vibratory
smooth drum compactor. Control testing was performed during placement to ensure the moisture
content and depths were correct during placement. Record testing will be performed prior to
geomembrane deployment.
MEW Weekly Report WE 09.22.2012
