August 15-16. Inspection.
August 17. Tunnel pond dams completed to grade.
Remaining work still to be done (i.e. rip rap,
catwalks, valve handles installed, etc. )
August 29. Mid-Continent wrote to MLRD to specify 1984
planting mixture for 8, 000 ' and 10, 000 '
elevation.
September 10. MLRD approves as minor revision the modification
of the revegetation seed mixtures.
September 11. MLRD correspondence indicating approval for
minor revision to modify revegetation and
seed mixtures. Note: seed mix updating is
a requirement.
September 12. Tunnel ponds certified complete.
September 14. Purchase Order Request for 1, 000 lb. of seed.
September 21. Purchase Order to Roaring Fork Co-op for 1,000
lb. seed, cost of $5,416, to be shipped in 1
week.
October 1-6. Rain at Coal Basin. -
October 10. Seeds shipped to Carbondale Co-op.
October 11. Seeds arrive at Coal Basin.
October 12 - 14. Rain, mixed with snow, at Coal Basin.
October 15 - 24. Continuous snowfall at Coal Basin.
October 27 - 29. Rain and snow at Coal Basin.
October 30 - 31. MLRD inspection.
Total of 32.5" snowfall in Coal Basin during October.
Tunnel sediment pond areas, which are north facing at 8,650 '
elevation, became inaccessible during this period due to ground
saturation and snowcover conditions.
November Seeding done in south-facing areas.
November 1. Seeding at blending bin, front gate, Savage
yard.
November 3. Seeding at conveyor route, fill slopes,
glory hole face up.
